lately, i’ve been inspired to take on craft projects using thrifted items.

the first photo is an earring holder, made using a thrifted picture frame & vintage lace. Thanks to K, who helped me to put together this little project for under $10 and 10 minutes. :)

Hi! Behold, for it is I, the elusive “J” in “J & A Thrifty Finds.” My parents’ love of antiques during my childhood has fueled my love for all things retro. Though I especially adore vintage kitchenware, furniture, and jewelry/accessories, sifting through records with A is a favorite when it comes to thrifty finds. While A excels in finding awesome pieces at legit thrift stores, my biggest success comes from exploring the basements and attics of family and friends. Free is thrifty, right? I also love to hunt for cheap vintage-inspired new items. It’s so nice to meet you!

The odds and ends that I picked up from my thrifting vacation in the midwest. I’m glad I brought an extra suitcase to bring all this stuff home!

A few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to visit my family and friends in the Midwest. This trip allowed me to visit some of my favorite people, eat some of my favorite foods, and of course vsiit some of my favorite thrift stores.

This post contains all of the clothes I found in my travels. :)

A few of my favorite thrifting locations (Midwest Edition)

I recently was able to make a trip back home to the Midwest. The trip allowed me to revisit some of my favorite thrift stores. Here is a quick breakdown of the best thrift stores to visit in Minnesota and Wisconsin. :)

St. Vincent de Paul (St. Vinnie’s) on Madison, WI’s east side (http://svdpmadison.wordpress.com) - they have a killer selection of books and records, all organized by genre and an excellent furniture and knick-knack selection as well.

Saver’s in Rochester, MN (http://www.savers.com/) - Savers is an excellent thrift store “chain”. I love that they organize the clothes by color AND size. They also have a great collection of books, records, and knick-knacks.

Goodwill in Apple Valley, MN (http://www.goodwilleasterseals.org/) - This Goodwill receives donations of brand new clothes and knick-knacks from the Target across the street.
